For everyone that has moved here from places that celebrate wildly when the thermometer goes above 50 degrees in the winter, snow in Orange County may be the last thing you’d want to cheer. However, for a boy born in Hawaii who has lived here most of his life, snow gets me all giddy. The recent rains and low temps over the past few days brought us a nice little blanket of snow up on Saddleback Mountain. I thought I’d share a few pics from this morning.
This was taken near the end of Rancho Santa Margarita Lake; I took pictures of the wildfires from this vantage last year.
This is a wider shot looking up Trabuco Creek.
This is a sequence of 22 photographs, all stitched together. The actual size of the image is 29,620 pixels wide – if you were to print that, it would be 17 inches tall by 13 feet long – that’s a huge image!

Thanks!
